Ben Burne


With more than 18 years experience in the diamond industry, Ben has extensive understanding of the second hand diamond market. Along with a family background in the diamond trade, he graduated from Oxford University in 1993 with a BA Hons in Earth Sciences (Geology).

Prior to founding WP Diamonds, Ben spent several months in Botswana prospecting for diamonds and three years at Ernst & Young qualifying as a chartered accountant. He then went on to serve as Vice President at Michael Werdiger (a DTC Sightholder) and Chief Operating Officer of Eloquence Corp., a diamond jewelry distribution company in the USA. 

Marie Chalmers (FGA, DGA)

Head of UK Valuations

An FGA, DGA qualified gemmologist. Marie has over 10 years experience working in the diamond industry. Marie trained in Antwerp, India and the UK’s diamond markets and has subsequently worked in various areas of the diamond industry from buying and selling diamonds internationally, through to running training courses to jewellery retailers and pawnbrokers. Marie brings technical and commercial diamond expertise to WP Diamonds.

Dave Padmore

UK Valuer

Dave trained with the GIA in London, and has since honed his valuation skills both on the job in the UK, and in working out of our New York office in the diamond markets there. Dave has extensive experience valuing .5ct to 5ct stones and he has also managed the melee diamond buying for the company in UK and Europe. Dave has built relationships with some of Europe’s biggest diamond traders and dealers and possesses a unique insight into the diamond and jewellery markets. He is based in our Birmingham office.

Anqi Huang

UK Valuer


Anqi has worked for White Pine Trading since qualifying from GIA as a Graduate Gemologist in colored stones and diamonds, and has since completed a AGS qualification as a Registered Jeweller.

In our New York Head Office Anqi directly assisted our Diamond Director, she was responsible for re-grading all the diamonds purchased world wide and also carried out valuations for WP Diamonds customers in the New York office. 

Anqi is now a key member of the UK team operating from our Birmingham office. 

Mike Roman


Michael is a founding member of White Pine. He worked a number of roles including direct sales of GIA certified stones to wholesalers and manufacturers in New York and sourcing of recycled diamonds from businesses and consumers across the U.S. He later went to assist in the opening of WP’s European division where he was responsible for B2B and B2C sales and valuations, and the technical training of White Pine’s European sales team. Michael has bought and sold diamonds on three different continents.

Michael Lebowitz

Director of Jewellery

Bringing over 40 years of Jewelry Industry knowledge to WP Diamonds’ jewelry division, Michael has an extensive background in retail, wholesale, inventory appraisals, close-out acquisition, as well as product design and manufacture of diamonds and jewelry. Michael’s gemological background includes a Graduate Gemologist certification from the Gemological Institute of America, as well as a Certified Diamond Inspector diploma from the Okuda School of Gemology, Tokyo, Japan.

Michael began his career in 1970 with Lebowitz & Co., a family owned three-store retail jewelry business based in central Massachusetts. After 25 years in his family business, Michael served as a close-out buyer and asset appraiser for Gordon Brothers Corp. in Boston. He transitioned back to retail in 1997 when he joined the preeminent Boston jeweler Shreve, Crump, and Low as Fine Jewelry Merchandise Manager. In that role, he developed key product initiatives such as the SCL Mastercut Diamond. After leaving Shreve in 2003, he served as a consultant to manufacturer M. Fabrikant and Sons, spearheading a project to develop a high end designer jewelry line.

Thomas Pozsgay

Watch Expert and Valuer

Thomas Pozsgay has worked in the collectible watch business for over 35 years. For the past 27 years his area of expertise has been the pre-owned luxury watch market. He began his career as a sales associate at one of the largest watch retailers in the country. His main experience came with Tourneau a leading authorised watch retailer for top brands. After valuing 1000s of watches he is considered by many to be a leading watch expert in the USA and UK. Constantly analysing the ever changing pre-owned watch market he is able to offer competitive prices to the company’s clientele.
